Patriot League Announces Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for September 22

Colgate’s Widrick and Ramey recognized for standout performances; Lehigh’s Zizza nets two goals in draw
The Patriot League has rolled out the red carpet for its Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for September 22, 2025—and let’s just say, the spotlight was shining bright on Lehigh and Colgate. If you’re a fan of edge-of-your-seat soccer, this week’s honorees delivered the goods.
Lehigh’s Giacomo Zizza didn’t just dip his toe in the water—he dove in headfirst, scooping up both Offensive Player and Midfielder of the Week honors. With two goals in a 3-3 draw against Army West Point, Zizza was everywhere at once, like a magician pulling rabbits out of hats. Talk about having a foot in both camps!
Colgate’s Liam Winograd was a rock at the back, earning Defensive Player of the Week after logging every single minute in two matches and helping his squad lock down back-to-back shutouts. Meanwhile, Eric Widrick was a brick wall in goal—named Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time this season, he posted two clean sheets and racked up seven saves. With a league-leading 4.88 saves per game and 0.625 shutouts per game, Widrick is making “no entry” his personal motto.
Cole Ramey, meanwhile, had his rookie moment in the sun, netting the game-winning goal in a nail-biting 1-0 victory over UAlbany. Not a bad way to introduce yourself to the league, right?
Honorable mentions were handed out like party favors to Andrea Di Blasio of Boston University; Troy Elgersma, Taku Takahashi, and Matthew Tibbetts from American; and Thomas Mancuso, Kyle Martell, and Archie Hatcher from Holy Cross. These players may not have taken home the big trophies, but they certainly made their presence felt on the pitch.
As of September 22, American is sitting pretty at the top of the Patriot League with a spotless 2-0 record and six points. Bucknell, Army West Point, and Lehigh are hot on their heels, each with one win, no losses, and one draw for four points. Boston University is hanging in there with three points, while Holy Cross has two. Colgate, Navy, and Lafayette are all tied with one point apiece. And Loyola Maryland? Well, they’re still chasing that elusive first league win—hang in there, Greyhounds!
The race for the top spot is tighter than a drum as the season marches on. Buckle up—this is one finish you won’t want to miss.
