Packers’ Offense Stalls in Loss to Eagles, Players Call for Solutions

Quarterback Jordan Love and running back Josh Jacobs urge improvement after another tough loss
The Green Bay Packers’ offense hit a brick wall in their 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, leaving players and coaches shaking their heads and searching for answers. If frustration were a currency, Lambeau would be rolling in it right now. The result also feeds into broader roster questions in Philadelphia, where a changing draft strategy could reshape future matchups.
Quarterback Jordan Love didn’t mince words, admitting the offense “let the defense down.” It’s becoming an all-too-familiar tune: the Packers have now dropped games to the Panthers and Browns this season, even though the defense kept those teams to 16 points or fewer. Love’s disappointment was written all over his face—he looked like a man who’d just lost his keys and his wallet in the same day. And he wasn’t the only one feeling the sting. Attention is now turning to the other side of the ball as Green Bay prepares for a possible coverage shift under new leadership.
Running back Josh Jacobs, who rumbled for 74 yards and scored the team’s lone touchdown, cut right to the chase. “We’ve got to find solutions,” Jacobs emphasized, sounding like a man tired of hearing the same old song on repeat. He pointed out the team’s struggles in the clutch, those make-or-break moments that separate the contenders from the pretenders. Quarterback uncertainty is also surfacing elsewhere in the league, with Pittsburgh weighing a potential Willis move this offseason.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur didn’t sugarcoat things, either. He acknowledged the offense’s rough outing and pointed to injuries as a thorn in their side. The Packers lost tight end Tucker Kraft for the season just a week earlier, and then, as if the football gods weren’t done, receiver Romeo Doubs and center Elgton Jenkins exited the Eagles game with injuries of their own. Still, LaFleur admitted the issues run deeper than just missing bodies on the field.
Love finished with 176 passing yards, but the offense just couldn’t find its rhythm when the stakes were highest. It was like trying to start a car on a cold Wisconsin morning—lots of sputtering, not much movement. The defense did its job, but the Packers’ record now stands at 5-3-1. You can’t help but wonder how much better it could look if the offense finally found its groove.
With the season barreling into its second half, the Packers know it’s time to step up on offense if they want to stay in the playoff hunt. As Jacobs put it, “We can’t just keep saying the same thing every week. We’ve got to do something about it.” Talk is cheap—now it’s time for action.
